Almost nobody in this market will put this in writing, so we will. This page explains who owns your domain name, what happens to it if you ever leave us, and precisely what it costs to take it somewhere else.
The short version: you own it, you can take it whenever you like, and we charge you nothing to hand it over.
Not us, not a holding company, not a reseller account. Your name and your business are on the public WHOIS record. You can check it yourself at any time, on any WHOIS lookup, without asking us.
No notice period, no minimum term, no exit interview. Ask for the authorisation code and we send it within one working day. We don't make you phone up, and we don't route you to a retention script.
No release fee, no transfer fee, no administrative fee, no charge for the export. The only money involved is whatever your new registrar charges to accept the domain — their price, not ours.

Your domain name is the address people type. DNS is the phone book that tells the internet which computer that address points at. Those are two separate things, and keeping them separate is what protects you.
You own the address. We just occupy the building it points to. If you ever want to move, you change one line in the phone book and the address now points somewhere else — your email keeps working, your name keeps working, and nothing is held hostage.
When people talk about being “locked in” to a website provider, what they usually mean is that the provider put their own name on the address. That's the part we don't do, and it's the first thing worth checking with anyone you're considering — including us.
You are. If you already own the domain, nothing changes — it stays in your account, in your name. If we register one for you, we register it in your name and your business's name, not ours, and we give you the login. You are the registrant on the public record from day one.
Nothing from us. We charge no release fee, no transfer fee and no administrative fee. The only cost that can arise is whatever your new registrar charges to accept a transfer, which is typically the price of a year's renewal and is set by them, not by us.
We'll send you the authorisation code within one working day of you asking. After that the timing is down to the registrars — a .uk domain usually moves within a day or two, a .com within about five days. We don't sit on the request, and we don't ask why you're leaving.
No, as long as we plan it. Email and website are separate DNS records, and it's entirely possible to move one without touching the other. Tell us what you're doing and we'll tell you exactly which records to change and which to leave alone.
It stays live until the end of the month you've paid for. We keep your data for 30 days after that so you can request an export, which includes the full source code and every asset, at no cost. After 30 days it's deleted unless you've asked us in writing to keep it.
Yes. Ask and we'll send you a plain-English list of every record pointing at us and what each one does. Some providers treat this as a trade secret. It isn't — it's your domain.
Read clause 12 and clause 15 of our terms before you decide anything. They say the same as this page, because they have to.
